News in 90 With Jillian Olsen – February 9, 2017

What’s up Bulls!? I’m Jillian Olsen and this is News in 90. This week we’re taking a closer look at
USF’s new residential community: The Village. Starting this past summer students may have
noticed some Andros buildings disappear and some new structures take their place. So, what has been done so far, and what is
yet to come? Let’s take a look. Since September, the university has been working
hard to construct Summit Hall and Beacon Hall which are set to open in fall 2017. Two other facilities will open later this
year. The Fit, a state of the art 19,000 square
foot campus recreation facility and wellness center, featuring nap pods, will open in October. The Hub, a 15,000 square foot dining facility,
will be open in time for the start of the fall semester.Students expecting to live in
the Honors LLC and the Wellness LLC, among others, can be the first to experience all
that The Village has to offer. These halls will mix both traditional style
and suite style rooms for their residents. The suite style rooms will be similar to Juniper,
Poplar, and Magnolia, however the bathrooms are not shared between suites, meaning 2 residents
per bathroom. All floors will feature activity and quiet
lounges. Hall Rates for next year are posted on the
usf.edu/housing website. If you want to keep up with the construction progress of The Village,
visit housing.usf.edu/thevillage for updates. Or stop by RHA’s Town Hall on February 13
at 7:30 p.m. in the Argos Study Lounge where there will be an open forum discussing The
Village. I’m Jillian Olsen with Housing & Residential Education. We’re the best place to live. Best place to work. And the best place to learn. I’ll see you next week
